Another incredible Tim Cate design (Thistle, Tigers Eye, St James Players Club) that opens November 2009. Located in beautiful Brunswick Forest on US-17, just 10 minutes south of Wilmington, or an hour north of Myrtle Beach. This challenging layout can stretch to 7,217 yards. The tees, fairways, and primary rough are grassed in Tifway 419 bermuda. Cape Fear National's heat tolerant A1/A4 bent grass greens are large (avg 8500 sq ft) and challenging. Over 50 sculpted bunker complexes and 3 giant waste bunkers are filled with SP55 sand (same blend as Augusta National). Over 1.5 million cubic yards of earth was moved to create dramatic berms, elevated tees, and meandering fairways.
