Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation
Many people who come to Myrtle Beach just for the golf are surprised at just how much the area has to offer. In addition to the area's 100+ golf courses, Myrtle Beach also has world-class beaches, shopping and entertainment.
Need help deciding on things to do during your Myrtle Beach golf vacation? We've got a few suggestions for you, whether you want to explore the area's beaches, take the family to an amusement park or spend a night checking out the area's club scene.
Beaches
The "Grand Strand" area has been blessed with 60 miles of beautiful beaches. You'd have a great time checking out any of these beaches on your golf vacation, but we especially recommend:
- Myrtle Beach - Named as a 2007 Yahoo! World's Best Beach, Myrtle Beach has plenty of shopping and fine dining choices to go with its miles of wide beaches.
- North Myrtle Beach – North Myrtle Beach area is comprised of four small beach towns and is a little slower paced than Myrtle Beach itself.
- Surfside Beach – This area, about twenty minutes from Myrtle Beach, prides itself on being extremely family friendly.
- Pawley's Island – Pawley's Island, one of America's oldest beach communities, offers some unbelievable shopping and dining options. It also features Brookgreen Gardens, one of the world's largest sculpted gardens.
Shopping
If you weren't already golfing, you could spend days checking out all of Myrtle Beach's shopping options. Here are two great places to start:
- Barefoot Landing – This unique area in North Myrtle Beach combines shopping with nature. The site's developers placed over 100 shops on a boardwalk along a 27-acre lake populated with exotic fish and wildlife.
- Broadway at the Beach – Set on over 350 acres along Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach provides a huge variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and nightlife options.
Amusement Parks
Consider taking a day off from golf during your Myrtle Beach vacation to enjoy one of the area's amusement parks including:
- Family Kingdom – This sea-side park remains one of the only free-admission amusement parks left in the country. If you're looking for a traditional, laid-back park, spend a day at Family Kingdom.
- NASCAR SpeedPark – Sure to satisfy any speed junkie, the NASCAR SpeedPark features seven go kart tracks, a racing simulator and mini golf.
Nightlife
You'd be missing out if you didn't explore Myrtle Beach's thriving night life at least once during your golf vacation. Here are a few places where you're sure to have a good time:
