Strong in the South

Coastal Golfaway provides access to the best golf on the South Strand

With several of Myrtle Beach’s best and most iconic golf courses, the area south of Myrtle Beach’s city limits is a hotspot for play, with its extensive list of golf facilities providing unique, beautiful layouts that players will enjoy for both the challenge and the thrill. Even more, many South Strand courses are included on Coastal Golfaway’s Myrtle Beach Golf Course Rankings Top 25. So, you won’t have to travel far from the epicenter of the beach to play truly world-class golf.

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is the #2 ranked golf course on the entire Grand Strand, according to our Top 25. Built on the site of a historically significant rice plantation, Caledonia has received extraordinary praise for its combination of creativity and conditioning, marked by ginormous greens, decisive bunkering and natural elements like marsh, live oaks and an array of seasonal flowers in full bloom.

Taking key advantage of massive elevation changes that often do not occur naturally in the Lowcountry, Wachesaw Plantation Club is ranked #3 on our list. Fairways weave elegantly through Carolina woods, all of it leading to the epic par-5 18th, one of the most scenic finishes on the entire East Coast. The hole starts high above a bluff overlooking the fairway and finishes in dramatic style at the banks of the Waccamaw River.

Rounding out the top five, True Blue is a masterpiece, designed to seamlessly combine links-style with its Lowcountry backdrop in unforgettable fashion. The natural beauty is evident everywhere you turn. The layout is brilliantly playable. True Blue is a step above.

At #8 on the list, TPC Myrtle Beach takes golfers through tall pines and rustic wetlands, and features picturesque and demanding par 3s that require forced carries. TPC Myrtle Beach, once host to the Senior PGA Tour Championship, honors the history and prestige of the Tournament Players Club brand with a remarkable experience, and is also the proud home of the Dustin Johnson Golf School.

Last but certainly not least, #12 on our Top 25 list is Heritage Club, carved through centuries-old pines and oaks, and with natural marsh views that will blow you away. Located in Pawleys Island, Heritage’s par-71 layout requires creativity and shot-making to be successful. Luscious crepe myrtle, camellias and azaleas line wide fairways and greens that undulate as much as any in the area.

There are a lot of Top 25 courses to check out on the South Strand during your next Coastal Golfaway!
